I know it's a bit late for a new year's resolution, but I think I've found the next challenge for me. Drop the brand names. It's a challenge because I am pretty set in my ways when it comes to shopping routines. I've been eating the same brand of cereal every day for breakfast for the last 10 years. It's these same habits that can translate into a significant savings for me in the long run. Sure, I'll save a couple dollars here and there when I'm shopping for groceries, but over time, that's money I could be spending, or saving towards other things. The litmus test was last week, and I honestly don't think the more expensive stuff makes me any happier. It's not that I can't afford it, it's just that I no longer see the value in spending more for the same thing on the grocery isle. We'll see how it goes!
It's June! Wow. The Year Of Jes is halfway over! So far, so good. I'm also about halfway done with my list of things to do, as well. The projects I haven't started are smaller things that I can do at any time... and in all likelihood, will get done this off season. One of the questions I get the most is "What the hell is the year of Jes?" The honest truth is that it started as a list of a dozen or so things that I wanted to do in one year's time. This list has ended up being the catalyst for change. The motivation has come from years of me just being content with the status quo. It was embarrassing for me to answer the question of "what's new?", because the answer was always a dejected "nothing...". The YOJ is just what I needed to energize my ass and start changing things.
But anyway, I digress... It is June, and summer is here. While I'm glad the sun is shining, and the weather is great, and the park is open, this is probably the first year that I have been too distracted to look forward to the operating season. Crazy, I know- Jes not being completely focused on work for once. I have been visiting friends and family in Ohio quite a bit this year so far. Ohio will always be home to me. You can read into that statement as much as you'd like.
Now, for some related tuneage, Waking the Demon, by Bullet for my Valentine.
And so yeah, that's what's up. Now go away and quit creepin' on me.
